Twilight Drama Over Recasting Continues

While Twilight fans are livid over the recasting of Victoria, which will replace actress Rachelle Lefevre with Bryce Dallas Howard for the third installment of the saga, Twilight actors have remained mum on the subject...until now. Speaking on Lefevre's behalf at TwiCon, Peter Facinelli and Rackson Rathbone expressed their disappointment over Lefevre's "scheduling conflicts." [cut=Read more]

Although Lefevre signed on for a small part in the Dustin Hoffman/Paul Giamatti film "Barney's Version" that would conflict with the Eclipse shoot, she was "stunned" by Summit's choice to replace her. She explained, "Given the length of filming for 'Eclipse,' never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap."

Angered by Lefevre's claims that she was fired, Summit responded: "We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre's recent comments, which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the studio...If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes, 'passionate' about being part of the 'Twilight' saga, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'."

Now other Twilight stars want to address the controversy. While Facinelli remarked he was "saddened that the dates didn't work out," Rathbone had a little more to say on the situation. "You know, Rachelle's a dear friend, and I'll miss her terribly," he explained. "I really can't say anything on the business side. Rachelle is an amazing actress and an amazing woman...I would love to work with Rachelle again. I'm really sad that I'm not going to get to work with her on the final film of the franchise we started together."

Rathbone, however, is looking on the bright side. In regard to Howard, whom Rathbone told Seventeen Magazine was his crush yet "way out of my league, so I'll just keep dreaming," the actor says, "I'm excited to work with her."

Perhaps everything happens for a reason. Could Rathbone and Howard be the next Robsten?

Lavigne To Release Album With More "Emotion"

The days of singing along to "Sk8ter Boi" while rocking a wife beater and tie (trucker hat optional) are long gone but Avril Lavigne hopes to have staying power. Lavigne has announced that her new album, currently untitled and slated for release in November, will be a little more raw and emotional. Sounds promising, but do we believe her? [cut=Hmm...]

"A lot of the songs are mainly the acoustic and my vocal. It's a lot different from anything I've done before," Lavigne, who penned many of the album's songs, told Billboard. "It's not a pop-rock record. This is more about emotion and feeling."

With husband Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 on board as the producer of eight of the twelve tracks, Lavigne wants to keep the album closer to home. She explains, "I'm kind of just keeping it in the family with all of my close friends. I didn't work with a ton of people this time."

To support the subdued quality of her new album, Lavigne hopes to embark on a theater tour rather than a much-hyped tour through large music venues. But the question remains: will Lavigne be able to tone down the partying to match her new record's sound?

Twilight Inspired Clothing Line to Hit Nordstrom

Want to show your ultimate devotion to the Twilight saga without resorting to a tattoo or Edward Cullen blow up doll? A Twilight inspired jewelry and fashion line will hit Nordstrom stores October 15, more than a month before New Moon comes to theaters November 20. [Cut=Team Edward or Team Jacob?]

The collection boasts a $32 Team Edward and Team Jacob tee shirts as well as a $30 charm necklace adorned with the Cullen family crest. Other items include a plaid jacket and shirts emblazoned with classic Twilight movie lines like "Bet you can't read my mind."

So is it selling out or being economically savvy? After all, Hot Topic's February sales were boosted 10.8 percent after the store introduced its Twilight apparel.

New Moon Website Debuts!

Can the internet handle this? The New Moon website is finally up and running just in time for the Robsten reunion! [cut=News!]

Okay, okay, don't get too excited. While the website promises "Film Clips" and "TV Spots," there's a little "Coming Soon" icon that pops up. Annoying? Absolutely. But at least we know what's coming our way in the near future. Let's face it, November 20 is pretty far away (sorry guys), so maybe it's a good thing they're giving us the New Moon juice in small doses.

Although the website may be missing some of the essential features, there are some new photos to check out as well as two interactive subsites: The Cullen House and La Push Reservation that are admittedly lame.

Harry Potter Actor Charged for Growing Marijuana

Just another case of life imitating art for Harry Potter stars? Not only has Emma Watson, who plays straight-A student Hermione Granger, confirmed that she will be attending an Ivy League institution in the fall, but Jamie Waylett, who plays Slytherin badboy Vincent Crabbe, has been sentenced to perform 120 hours of community service by an England court. [Cut=Trouble...]

In April, police found eight bags of marijuana and a knife stashed in a car Waylett and a friend were riding in. Later, police raided Waylett's mother's house to find ten cannabis plants (estimated at $2900) growing under hydroponic lights. The charge carries a 14-year maximum sentence.

Waylett, whose lawyer Cheryl Rudden begged the court not to "make an example of him" and "wreck his career" got off easy.

According to Reuters, the District judge Timothy Workman told Waylett, "I accept that the cultivation of this cannabis was on a small scale, and this was not in any way a commercial venture on your part. Nevertheless, you used a sophisticated growing system to do so. I give you credit for pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity, your co-operation with police and the fact that you are, until now, a man of good character."

New Fave: Miss Derringer

Lady who? Liz McGrath, lead singer of the up and coming band Miss Derringer, is next in line to inherit the title of quirky songstress. [Cut= Read more...]The band's sophomore album Winter Hill dropped last week and, while the songs are far from electronic dance hits, they're a catchy combination of dark, retro poprock infused with hints of country. Chock-full of psychadelic ballads, dreamy vocals, and bubblegum synth tracks that touch on issues of death and heartbreak, Winter Hill is anything but boring. And neither is McGrath's infamous style that pays homage to costumes you might find at an old-school circus on the wrong side of town.

Miss Derringer isn't just a band, it's a concept. McGrath tells LA Weekly: "Our whole thing is that Miss Derringer is this character that is always in trouble, always on the wrong side of the law. I think it makes a compelling story, or interesting for people to listen to." And what better way to portray the concept than through McGrath's outlandish outfits?

Robsten to Reunite

It’s official: E! Online reports that RPattz and KStew will finally reunite. The alleged couple will appear side by side at San Diego’s Comic-Con next week to promote the Twilight saga. [cut=Love is in the air...]

News of the Robsten reunion comes after a nearly two-month cross-country separation. While Stewart has stationed herself in Los Angeles to shoot the Joan Jett biopic “The Runaways,” Pattinson has been living it up in the Big Apple, shooting the romantic flick “Remember Me,” which is scheduled to wrap before his Thursday trip.

So has distance put a damper on the relationship? Apparently not. Although reports of Pattinson’s hard partying ways and rumored romance with “Remember Me” costar Emilie De Ravin are front-page tabloid staples, according to sources, the Twilight duo will be residing in the same San Diego hotel. Looks like distance truly does make the heart grow fonder.

Katy Perry Grows Up...Not.

Katy Perry wouldn’t be Katy Perry without her penchant for contradictions. Perry recently claimed she’s had it with her hard-partying ways, saying, "My motto has always been: live life to the full because at the end you're dead. But I'm starting to mellow a bit. I still believe in taking risks in my music, but I've realized that I can't party like I used to and expect to remain focused on my work.” She continued, “I've seen too many people live that way and almost wreck their careers. That's not going to happen to me. I'm still full on, but these days I see the wisdom in having a good night's sleep."

So has Perry finally matured to become a serious musician? Not so fast. While Perry may trade her late nights for staying in, she’s not over digging at her musical competition, most notably Lily Allen.

The two have a longstanding history of drama. Perry famously described herself as a "fatter version of Amy Winehouse and the skinnier version of Lily Allen" to which Allen replied, “She was signed by my label in America as, ‘We need to find something controversial and kooky like Lily Allen.’ And then they found her.” Allen also threatened to reveal Perry’s digits over facebook.

With Perry’s newfound distaste for hard partying, it would seem logical that she would also abandon her catty ways, but Perry promises her new album will contain plenty of commentary on pop rivals. Perry says, “Everyone asks me, 'What do you think about this? What do you think about that? And about this person?' I don't really comment about that in public but I take it to the pen and I get nasty.”

So what does getting “nasty” entail? A rumored anti-Allen song. Perry says, "I'm looking to make a record that's more honest and it's going to be different…I'm not trying to alienate my fans necessarily, but One Of The Boys was written from 17 to 23. Now I'm 24 so my perspective on life has changed.”

Are you sure about that? The party may be over for Perry, but her high school state of mind is here to stay.

Ex-Evanescence Band We Are The Fallen Debuts

Ex-members of Evanescence along with American Idol alum Carly Smithson made their debut today as We Are The Fallen. In front of sixty or so record industry executives, cameramen, and members of the press, the band took the stage at SIR in Hollywood and performed two songs—their first single “Bury Me Alive” and Evanescence’s “Going Under.” [Cut=It sounded good…]

Smithson gave Amy Lee of Evanescence a run for her money. While “Bury Me Alive” had a similar sound to Evanescence material, it was performed flawlessly. Smithson, clad in all black and combat boots, reached every note effortlessly. Both catchy and intense, “Bury Me Alive” is a hit in the making.

Unfortunately, We Are The Fallen didn’t offer another original single and instead resurrected Evanescence’s “Going Under.” While “Going Under” is a favorite among Evanescence fans, it came as a disappointment that the band paid homage to the past in their official debut.

Such has been of concern to Evanescence fans. Although it is inevitable that We Are The Fallen’s sound will be similar to that of Evanescence, some are wary that the band may be a carbon copy, with the exclusion of Lee. Even the band name has caused controversy among Evanescence fans who believe that We Are The Fallen alludes to Evanescence’s first album “Fallen.” When asked in the Q&A after the performance if the name made a “statement,” Moody replied:

“We had actually been talking about the band name a lot for a long time and it just really seemed like We Are the Fallen…it just seemed like a really good idea to encompass all of our fans that we already had with our previous band and I guess make it more of an inviting thing for all the fans to come in and be a part of something rather than just be a fan of a group.”

The name has even encountered drama outside the realm of Evanescence. Originally called The Fallen, the band had to rename to We Are The Fallen due to potential trademark infringement.
